Australia’s Rising Star Jye Dixon Sets Sights on Glasgow 2026 Gold

Australia’s next generation of boxing talent will be looking to make their mark on the international stage at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and 21-year-old Jye Dixon is one fighter arriving in Scotland with confidence, ambition and momentum behind him.

The Brisbane-born boxer, who competes in the 55kg division, has enjoyed a strong rise through the amateur ranks and will proudly represent Team Australia after earning his place on one of the biggest sporting stages in the Commonwealth.

Fighting out of All Star Boxing Academy, Dixon has continued to develop into one of Australia’s most promising young boxers. His performances at the 2025 World Championships in Liverpool demonstrated that he belongs among the world’s best, while his form throughout 2026 has further strengthened his reputation on the international circuit.

Competing at the World Boxing Cup events in Brazil and China, Dixon produced impressive performances against high-level opposition, gaining valuable experience and showing he has the ability to compete with the best fighters in the world ahead of Glasgow.

For Dixon, selection for the Commonwealth Games represents a major milestone in his career and an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of someone who inspired him from a young age.

“Being selected means a lot to me,” Dixon said.

“It’s a massive opportunity for my career and a chance to build more of a name for myself. When I was younger, I watched one of the people I look up to and my stablemate, Liam Wilson, compete at the Commonwealth Games when he was around the same age as I am now.”

“Seeing what he’s gone on to achieve makes me really proud to be following in his footsteps, and it gives me confidence that if I keep working hard, I can one day be fighting for world professional titles too.”

The men’s 55kg division is expected to feature some of the strongest boxers from across the Commonwealth, but Dixon is embracing the challenge and believes his preparation has him ready for the level of competition he will face in Glasgow.

“I think everyone in my division is a tough fight,” he said.

“At this level there’s no easy opponents, so you have to be ready for whoever is put in front of you. But if I’m performing at my best, I believe I can beat anyone in the division.”

A key part of Dixon’s confidence comes from the team behind him, with his coaches playing an important role in preparing him for the demands of international competition.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in the team around me too. I’m lucky to have great coaches in my corner, with head coach Dean Robertson and my home coach Paul Utia preparing me for this opportunity, so I’ll be going over there ready to give it everything.”

While many athletes would view simply competing at a Commonwealth Games as a career achievement, Dixon’s ambitions are clear. He is travelling to Glasgow with one goal in mind — to win gold.

“For me, the only thing that will make it a successful Commonwealth Games is leaving with the gold medal,” he said.

“That’s been my goal from the start. My focus is to make the final, and not just be there, but to win it and bring home a gold medal for Australia. I’ll be giving everything I’ve got to make that happen.”

With valuable international experience behind him, strong performances against world-class opposition and the belief of a team supporting his journey, Jye Dixon heads to Glasgow determined to prove he belongs among the Commonwealth’s elite.

For the Australian 55kg contender, the opportunity is not just about competing — it is about chasing history and bringing home gold.
