“Let’s Hope It’s for a European Title” – Edward Donovan Calls for Paul Ryan Rematch

Edward “The Dominator” Donovan has wasted little time looking towards his next challenge after his victory last weekend — and he wants Paul Ryan again, this time with a European title on the line.

Donovan came through his latest test against Peter Carr, producing the type of composed boxing performance he believes was always going to be enough to get the job done.

For the Limerick man, the outcome came as little surprise.

“The fight went exactly how I thought it would go, my boxing skills were too much, completely on a different level than him.”

Donovan was quick to give Carr credit, describing him as “a good operator in his own right”, but he was unhappy with what he felt was excessive use of the head during the contest.

“What did surprise me was how dirty he was with his head. It was plain to see. He did it throughout the whole fight.”

Despite that, Donovan refused to be dragged into a messy contest.

“I kept it clean, very professional. I stuck to the game plan.”

DONOVAN WANTS RYAN AGAIN

Having put Carr behind him, Donovan already has another name in mind.

Paul Ryan.

The two have shared the ring before, but Donovan believes there is unfinished business between them and is eager for the opportunity to settle the score.

“Yes, I want to fight Paul again and correct the wrongs.”

A rematch would be one of the biggest domestic fights in recent years and given the support both men command, Donovan has even bigger ambitions for a second meeting.

“We both bring a big crowd, but let’s hope it is for a big title, European title.”

Now with momentum behind him, Donovan is not simply looking for another fight — he wants his next opportunity to come with significant silverware at stake.

LIMERICK SHOWS UP FOR THE DOMINATOR

If Donovan needed a reminder of the support behind him, he got it on fight night.

The Limerick faithful turned out in force in the National Stadium, creating an atmosphere that he clearly appreciated.

“The support was absolutely amazing, Limerick really did show up and I thank them all for that, and I hope I did them all proud.”

And there was a familiar face sitting ringside experiencing every punch alongside him.

Brother Paddy Donovan was there to support Edward, and the bond between the two fighters was evident throughout the night.

Edward says Paddy was “living it punch by punch” and describes their relationship as much more than simply that of two brothers.

“Paddy and me have a ride and die relationship, inside the ring and also outside. We always want the best for each other, no matter what.”

The emotion behind his words was clear as Donovan looked beyond boxing and towards the legacy the brothers hope to create together.

“Paddy is more than just my brother, he is my best friend. Some day when the boxing is all over I want us to look back at it all and say we done good.”

WHAT NEXT FOR DONOVAN?

For now, Donovan can reflect on another successful night, but his ambitions clearly extend beyond simply adding more wins to his record.

A rematch with Paul Ryan is firmly on his radar — and if Donovan gets his way, it won’t just be another domestic showdown.

He wants a titles.

Whether that opportunity comes in a rematch against the Irish champion or they both go another route remains to be seen.

And after a strong performance in front of his passionate support, The Dominator is ready for the next chapter, whatever that may be.
